Classic vs. Hybrid Lashes vs Volume
Classic, Volume, Hybrid eyelash extensions? What is the difference? What is best for me? What does it all mean? Don't worry, because I'll explain what it all means for you.
Classic Eyelash Extensions
Classic eyelashes is the most traditional form of eyelash extensions. They're a 1:1 ratio of one extension applied to one natural lash. This means I can only apply as many extensions as you have natural lashes. An extension cannot be placed where there isn't a natural lash! So, if you have sparse lashes, thin or fragile lashes, and wish to fill out your lash line, classic eyelash extensions won't be the most suitable fit for you.
Now let's say you have a lot of natural healthy lashes. You want to add some length, have a defined curl, and that look of mascara without the hassle of using mascara. Then classic eyelash extensions are definitely going to be for you. Keep in mind the rule of thumb for safe and healthy lash extension application, is no more than 2mm longer than your natural lashes.
Hybrid Eyelash Extensions
So what if you want a little more coverage, but aren't ready for full Volume? The answer is Hybrid eyelash extensions. This is a blending of both the Classic and Volume eyelash extension techniques. Volume fans and Classic eyelash extensions are intermixed to create a fuller lash line.
If you feel like you have a good amount of lashes, but have a some gaps here and there, this mixed technique is perfect. Volume fans will fill in any gaps to create an even lash line. This gives a slightly fluffier appearance to the lashes than straight Classic eyelash extensions.
Volume Eyelash Extensions
Volume eyelash extensions. This is a more technical technique where I would takes 2-6 very thin eyelash extensions and makes them into a fan shape before applying to the natural eyelash. What happens when you when you apply these fans next to each other? You get a dense, fluffy set of lashes.
For those with sparse lashes, when these fans overlap they cover any gaps in the lash line and create an illusion of having more lashes than you actually have. Classic eyelash extensions on a sparse lash line runs the risk of looking "spidery" which is a look none of us want. With Volume eyelash extensions, you can still achieve the look of fuller, darker and longer looking lashes.
What will Volume eyelash extensions add for someone with a full lash line already? DRAMA. If Classic lashes don't quite do enough for you, Volume lashes most certainly will. With these very light weight fans I apply anywhere from 120-600 lashes per eye which is safe for the natural lashes.
Now, how can this possibly be safe for your natural eyelashes? It's the difference in the diameter of the extensions used. A typical Classic eyelash extensions is between 0.10mm and 0.15mm. A typical Volume eyelash extension is between 0.03mm and 0.07mm. Using a thinner, lighter extensions allows for more extensions to be applied to a single lash. Of course, your natural lash length and thickness will determine exactly how big of a fan can be applied. The health and safety of your eyelashes is most important! My classic lash extensions are 0.15mm in diameter which equals to 10 single 0.3mm lashes. Again not everyone natural lashes can handle the weight of a classic lash weight which is why I always recommend a consultation.
